WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush's approval rating held steady in the
latest CNN poll released Monday, virtually unchanged since the start of August. Forty-two percent of the adults questioned approve of how the president
is handling his job, while 55 percent disapprove.
That is a slight increase from mid-August, when a CNN poll showed an
approval rating for the president of 40 percent.
The margin of error for both polls is plus-or-minus 3 points.
The latest poll also showed Iraq and terrorism are the top two issues on
the minds of Americans ahead of midterm elections. Nearly half of the
respondents said both issues are extremely important in determining their vote
for Congress this year.
There has been relatively little change in the importance of these two
issues since August.
The latest poll was conducted for CNN by the Opinion Research Corporation
Sept. 22-24.
