THE first sign of Kylie Minogue's breast cancer came as she felt exhausted rehearsing for last year's Showgirl tour, the superstar said. In an interview to be aired on the Nine Network tonight, Minogue also tells of how she suffered bouts of deep depression after discovering the tumour.
Minogue, who is now in rehearsals for a series of replacement shows later this year, said: "I have had to make some changes to the show. I was doing six quick changes backstage during the performance, so I said: 'You know what, maybe we won't have quick changes, we'll have slow changes. And maybe even a little chair'."
Minogue also reveals that she is writing a new album based on her experiences.
"Of course – I've written lyrics about the last year," she said.
"But it's not depressing. There's no 'woe is me'. I've just said what I wanted to say in my own way – all to a disco beat."
The 38-year-old singer looks radiant in the interview, the first since winning her battle with cancer.
But she admits there were times she could not bear to look at her own reflection during debilitating chemotherapy.
And now that she has been given the all-clear, she wants to have children with her French partner, Olivier Martinez.
The pop star is hoping an operation will make her dream come true.
Kylie says she is not desperate to marry but wants children.
She is scheduled to resume her Showgirl tour in Australia in November.
