Another MTV couple bites the dust. After less than three years of marriage, Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro, stars of MTV's 'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave in 2003, are getting divorced. On November 22, 2003, Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro were married at a lavish, televised affair that included guests like Hugh Hefner, Sharon Osbourne, Gwen Stefani, and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As reported by E Online, this wasn't the first marriage for either Carmen Electra or Dennis Rodman, "This was Electra's second marriage, her first being a what-the-heck-is-she-doing romp down the aisle with Dennis Rodman in March of 1998, and Navarro's third (his second union was annulled after a month). Neither has any children, but now there's an awful lot of eyeliner to divvy up."
Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro aren't the first couple to fall prey to the MTV curse. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, stars of the network's Newlyweds, announced their split last November with their divorce finalized last month. Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro's publicist, Brit Reece, released a statement yesterday saying the couple was "amicably separating"
Just this April, Carmen Electra denied rumors of trouble in rock and roll paradise, telling People, "We're fine! I'm not saying we have the perfect marriage or that we're the perfect couple, but we're pretty damn good. If there were trouble, I wouldn't have my ring on. I would not walk around and pretend."
This week, it was a different story, as a source told The New York Post about the state of Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro's marriage, "A source claims the rocker has already moved and is practically living with his new girlfriend of five months, socialite Sarah Howard. The couple have denied numerous reports that there was a rift in the marriage and continued to pretend to be together at public appearances. The source says, 'Carmen is so focused on her career, she doesn't even care. Dave told Sarah it's totally over between him and Carmen. Everybody knows about Dave and Sarah now.'"
Dave Navarro has a long history in the spotlight, being one of the founding members of the massively influential Jane's Addiction and a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers for a while. Two years ago, Dave Navarro formed another band, The Panic Channel, which includes Skycycle singer-guitarist Steve Isaacs and Jane's Addiction members Stephen Perkins and Chris Chaney. The Panic Channel will release their debut, ONe, on August 15th, with the singles "Teahouse of the Spirits" and "Why Cry" already available on iTunes. Dave Navarro is also helping fellow rocker Tommy Lee find a new front man for his band on CBS' Rock Star: Supernova.
Carmen Electra shot to fame after a stint on Baywatch and a tour through the pages of Playboy. Carmen Electra has appeared in several movies, including Scary Movie 4, American Dreamz and Date Movie this year alone. She is now filming the comedy I Want Candy.
